The period of time after my departure from Pollak was... interesting. Due to having had a bankruptcy discharged in 2005, and no longer having a girlfriend to spend my money on, I found myself in a pretty good financial position, despite not having a job. I was able to negotiate a severance package under the condition I was available for consultation and was able to collect unemployment. (Just have to know how to talk to those folks.) I spent much of February and March throwing myself into looking for a job and improving my riding skills. I was also bored a lot. But the jobs I applied for didn't want me.

Then April hit and my phone and e-mail were going crazy. Apparently everyone was hiring and they wanted me. Or at least wanted to talk to me. Recruiters, contract jobs, direct hires, you name it. Toward the end of the month, I had three competitive offers, two included sign-on bonuses. But the third was the best possible job, one I'd heard about from a friend and former Ultranet/RCN co-worker. So May 8, 2006, I began work as a Network Engineer for ITA Software.

ITA Software writes travel planning software, among other things, used on websites such as Orbitz. Much of the travel industry is very hush hush so I'll leave it at that.

I still perform at Renaissance Faires but my schedule as an independent performer has taken me away from MERF. I have fond memories of that faire. I started as a guard, became the Queen's herald. Then the Sherrif's rackmaster. And in my last year, I played a leading role as "The Duke of Parma". I was "The Bad Guy". It also marked the year I met my girlfriend. I'd gush about that here but I don't want to make anyone vomit.

GBU stopped performing together after the 2005 season. We are all putting our focus into other ventures. For me, it's primarily Paragon Jousting. I'm enjoying my time learning and growing within the organization. Next goal... 180 lbs.

I've now been at ITA Software for a little over a year and I am taking my a leap into another great adventure...

...home ownership. I'm looking to buy a condo.
